Department Overview

Société Générale Corporate and Investment Banking is a leading European investment bank with a global presence across 66 countries. The Telecom, Media, and Technology (TMT) Finance team is part of the Investment Banking Division and specialises in structuring debt financing solutions for private equity firms, infrastructure investors, and companies operating in the TMT sectors. The team was recognised as the TMT Financing Bank of the Year in Europe, Middle East, and Africa in 2023, reflecting its leadership in major deals across the region.

Role Summary

TMT Finance is part of the Financing and Advisory division within the Global Banking & Investor Solutions business line. The team specialises in structuring debt solutions across two key areas: (i) digital infrastructure for private equity and infrastructure sponsors, and (ii) the broader TMT sector for sub-investment grade corporates. The team has played a leading role in advising, structuring, and distributing some of Europe’s most high-profile data centres, fibre networks, and telecom towers financing transactions. Working closely with SG’s product teams, we deliver tailored financing solutions through project finance, leveraged loans, high-yield bonds, private placements, ABS, and CMBS.

Key Responsibilities

As a trainee in the team, you will be responsible for:

       Marketing / Origination

  • Preparation of financing pitches and marketing materials for private equity, infrastructure sponsors and leveraged corporates

  • Mapping of future opportunities

          Execution / Structuring

  • Analysis of companies and projects (project, market, financials, investment merits, risks) for the credit committee memo.

  • Preparation of materials for syndication including the information memorandum and management presentation

  • Develop the financial model that underpins the financing structure, including infrastructure project modelling, financial statement analysis, and preparation of detailed financial projections

  • Collaboration with a range of internal departments of the bank, including capital markets (Loan Syndication and DCM), asset backed product teams, M&A, derivatives and credit teams

  • Interacting with external parties, such as private equity and infrastructure clients, advisors, lawyers, accountants, rating agencies and consultants

  • Assist in closing transactions by utilising the banks internal systems and working with various middle and back-office functions 

          Portfolio management

  • Support the portfolio management team in overseeing and maintaining the portfolio of borrowers and clients.

          Other

  • Ensuring the team consistently meets excellent standards with respect to operational management, communications and governance

Profile required

Experience / Competencies Required

  • Strong interest in TMT sector, and in particular digital infrastructure
  • Prior work experience in infrastructure or leveraged finance viewed favourably 
  • Capability to work across a range of debt products, including project finance, leveraged finance, private placements, ABS and CMBS
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with specific ability to communicate concepts and ideas concisely and defend validity
  • Very strong quantitative and analytical skills (including excel financial modelling, accounting and corporate finance knowledge)
  • Experience creating clear, structured and compelling pitch materials
  • Ability to work well under pressure and to tight deadlines, and have the aptitude to synthesise large amount of information and to develop solutions
  • Ability to comfortably interact with the client in a professional and mature manner
  • Fluency in English, an additional language is a positive
