Valuation Group:

  • Perform IPV and valuation adjustment (Bid-Ask/Uncertainty reserves, IAS...) for market activities, it requires solid technical knowledge and undertansding of financial instruments Pricing.
  • Contribution and Preparation of Asia Valuation Committees (analytical review, risky area).
  • Process automation (Python) and development of PowerBI dashboard
  • Provide ad-hoc expertise and P&L analysis for internal partners  



  • Identify eligible processes for automation to streamline metric monitoring and reporting processes and prepare business case to project manager for prioritization.
  • Implement dashboards to be used for ALCOs, via tools such as PowerBI/ PowerQuery for the data analytics and visualization of ALM metrics (liquidity, IRRBB, RWA and balance sheet).
  • Contribute to Asia IRRBB project to overhaul the feeding and reporting chain, by explaining and coordinating business requirements to project manager.  


  • Conduct detailed trend and variation analysis on ALM metrics (balance sheet, funding gaps, stressed liquidity gaps and IRRBB NPV sensitivity) of all Asian entities. Work with relevant business owner to understand the consumption and link with the business drivers. 
  • Review, analyze and explain the Asia’s RWA exposures and variations across business lines, entities and prepare RWA trajectory for steering and financial budgeting process 

For the second year, the incumbent will be assigned more complicated matters with higher autonomy.

Candidates with outstanding performance will be considered for early conversion to permanent roles.

Profile required

  • Hold a relevant Bachelors or Master's degree in quantitative finance, mathematics or Engineering or similar, with relevant academic exposure to Financial Accounting and Corporate Finance.
  • Good understanding of global market activities, trading strategies and product features, derivatives pricing.
  • Programming skills (Python...), experience with business analytics / data visualization tools such as PowerBI / Power Query.
  • Understanding of data science, Machine learning is a plus.
  • Pro-active, rigorous, autonomous, and a strong ability to work under pressure and prioritize multiple deliverables.
  • Strong logical thinking, good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Fluent English is mandatory

This is a fixed term 24-12 month Trainee contract with Societe Generale. You will form part of the team on a full time basis. In order to apply for the Trainee position please ensure you have completed your qualification and will be available to work full time for the duration of the Trainee contract.

Department Description:

  • Based in Hong Kong, the role is part of APAC finance departments, and functionally part of both Valuation and ALM team.
  • The valuation Group is responsible for design of methodologies and calculation of fair value adjustments for market activities which are IFRS requirement, working closely with trading desks (equity, Fixed Income) and Risk teams.
  • The Asia ALM team in the Finance department, is a team of experts based in Hong Kong, responsible for monitoring and analyzing Asia’s balance sheet, risk-weighted assets (RWA), capital and structural risks (liquidity and IR & FX). We lead various studies to drive vital management’s decision-making and steering of these metrics.
