Responsibilities

Loan Capital Markets & Syndicate (“Syndicate”) is a single, integrated team responsible for the origination, pricing, structuring and distribution all syndicated loans and high yield bonds originated by SG in the Americas as well as European originated loans and high yield bonds sold to investors in the U.S.  Syndicate is responsible for (i) origination, structuring and execution of loan and high yield financing mandate, for our clients and prospective clients located both in the Americas and Europe, (ii) securing internal approvals to execute financings on either an underwritten or best-efforts basis and (iii) managing all phases of the distribution process.

Syndicate work most closely with the following coverage groups:

·         Specialized finance teams including: Energy and Energy Transition Project Finance, Digital Infrastructure, Metals, Mining & Industrials, Core Infrastructure and Commodity Finance

·         Leverage Finance and Financial Sponsor Coverage for corporate acquisitions, LBOs, and leveraged recaps

·         Corporate Coverage for general corporate funding and acquisition finance

In addition to the various coverage teams, Syndicate works closely with the Loan and High Yield Sales and Trading teams, as well as the Ratings Advisory team.   Externally, the Syndicate team interacts directly with both corporate and sponsor clients, as well as banks and institutional loan and high yield bond investors.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Seeking a strong candidate to fulfill the role of Vice President in the Loan Capital Markets & Syndicate team based in New York.  The VP of Loan Capital Markets & Syndicate will be responsible for origination and execution of syndicated loan financings in the Americas, with a specific focus on financing mandates in the Energy Transition, Energy Project Finance, Digital Infrastructure and Core Infrastructure sectors.

Responsibilities:

  • Continuously follow market trends to identify active participants in the market, prevailing market terms and pricing, depth of market and other factors in lending and underwriting decisions
  • Pitch and advise clients on the status of the market and the structures and syndication strategies needed for best execution in the syndicated loan capital markets
  • Partner with SGs industry sector teams to develop market-based structures and creative capital raising solutions
  • Develop relationships and maintain a dialogue with peers at other banks and non-bank institutions as a source of market intelligence during the origination process and market capacity during syndication
  • Work alongside the industry sector teams to originate syndicated loan mandates and to execute transactions once mandated
  •  Develop junior members of the Loan Capital Markets & Syndicate team, and manage deal teams in the context or new deal origination and execution
  • Provide market outreach and market intelligence to the industry sector teams in the context of financial advisory mandates

Profile required

Skills and Qualifications:

Must Have:

  • Demonstrated ability to work under tight deadlines on active bookrunner/lead arranger mandates in the syndicated loan market
  • Strong presentation skills, both orally and written
  • Ability to understand complex financial structures and legal documents
  • Credit skills and ability to properly assess underwriting risks
  • Strong existing relationships with key participants in the syndicated loans markets, and in particular the project finance bank and non-bank institutional markets
  • Strong networking skills both internally and external to the firm
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • 6+ years within financial services, specifically loan capital markets & syndicate, or in one of the target sectors (Energy Transition, Energy Project Finance, Digital Infrastructure and Core Infrastructure)
  • Deep knowledge of the loan capital markets, loan investor base and financing structures relevant to the target sectors

COMPENSATION & SALARY RANGE:

Base salary range does not include overtime pay, bonus and/or other benefits, where applicable. Actual base salary offer will vary based on skills and experience.
