Responsibilities

You will join the ALM & Treasury team within the Finance department of Société Générale Luxembourg.
The team is responsible for:

Monitoring and managing structural interest rate risk (IRRBB)
Steering liquidity risk and regulatory ratios (LCR, NSFR)
Managing foreign exchange structural exposures
Defining and maintaining ALM models and assumptions

As a V.I.E., you will play an active role in monitoring the balance sheet, analyzing risk indicators, and improving internal tools and processes..

Your main missions will include:

Risk Monitoring & Reporting

  • Monitor daily and monthly liquidity indicators (LCR, NSFR, liquidity gap)
  • Track interest rate risk metrics (EVE, NII sensitivity)
  • Analyze structural FX exposures
  • Contribute to internal dashboards and management reports

 ALM Analysis

  • Perform quantitative analyses on balance sheet evolution and risk drivers    
  • Participate in the interpretation of stress scenarios and sensitivities

  • Support preparation of materials for ALCO committees

  Models & Methodologies

  • Review existing ALM models (behavioural models, replication portfolios, etc.)  
  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of new modelling approaches

  • Ensure consistency with Group methodologies and regulatory expectations

Hedging & Strategy

  • Assist in defining hedging strategies (interest rate and liquidity)
  • Evaluate hedging efficiency and impact on the balance sheet

Projects & Continuous Improvement

  • Take part in transverse projects (tools improvement, regulatory changes, data quality) 
  • Contribute to automation initiatives (Excel/VBA/Python if applicable)

  • Help optimize ALM production processes

Please note that it is mandatory to provide us a formal proof of your M2 diploma validation before the assignment start date. No VIE mission will start without this document. *Grade sheets are not accepted as justification of diploma.

Profile required

PLEASE NOTE that since this program is primarily an international development program, candidates cannot apply to a VIE assignment in their own country of citizenship.

Studies & experience:

  • Master’s degree (Business School, Engineering School, or University), Specialization in Finance, Economics, Mathematics or Quantitative fields
  • A first experience (internship/apprenticeship) in Finance, ALM, Risk or Treasury is a strong plus


Language skills:

  • Fluent in English (mandatory), French is a plus

Technical, operational & soft skills:

  • Strong understanding of financial concepts (rates, liquidity, banking balance sheet)
  • Good command of Excel (mandatory)

  • Knowledge of VBA, Python, or data tools is a plus

  • Familiarity with ALM indicators (LCR, NSFR, IRRBB) is appreciated

  • Analytical mindset and attention to detail
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Proactive, curious, and willing to learn
  • Ability to work in an international environment
     

The VIE assignment in a nutshell

This VIE in Luxembourg is to begin as soon as possible, but you need to plan 3 months between your application date and the beginning of your VIE assignment. It will last 12 months.

The VIE is a specific contract, under Business France’s eligibility criteria, opened to candidates under 28 and from the member states of the European Economic Space. For further information (including your financial indemnities), please see Mon VIE-VIA Business France.
