V.I.E. Communication Generalist
Responsibilities
Communication is responsible for the external communication (social media, press, digital/websites, conferences & events) and internal communication (intranet, newsletters, digital, events) for SG Americas including our offices in the US, Canada and Brazil. The team works closely with the SG Americas CEO and Executive Committee, as well as key partners in the Business Units, Human Resources and other support functions to communicate key stories and initiatives that help promote SG Americas to its clients, stakeholders, recruits and the broader banking industry.
Responsibilities:
- Contribute to communications activities in both Canada and the Americas. Be a key part of the Communications team with responsibilities across the region while assisting on editorial, video, social media, events, conference and press activities for Canada.
- Work directly with SG Canada COMMs lead, assisting in all areas of communications, working closely with SG Canada teams with particular emphasis on HR and Culture & Conduct.
- Develop content in written and/or video format that highlights SG Americas business or employee initiatives. Specific emphasis on stories related to sustainable finance and that support SG's sustainable banking strategies and employer-of-choice positioning.
- Propose and develop stories/posts/videos to be used both internally and externally.
- Participate as a member of the COMMs Editorial Committee, sourcing/developing/executing key story ideas.
- As needed, translate COMMs content for both SG Canada and SG AMER.

Studies & experience:
- Graduate with a Master degree from Business/Engineering School or University in Communication
- A previous experience in communication, public relations, journalism or marketing would be appreciated
Language skills:
Fluent in English (B2-C1)
Technical, operational & Soft skills:
Good communication and presentation skills
- Proficient/Good command of MS Office
Writing – beyond fluency, must be a skilled writer who can contribute to stories and posts for both internal and external audiences
- Video/Photography – concepting, filming and basic editing of 1-5 min business videos
- Social media – capability to contribute to key platforms with a focus on LinkedIn
- Project management – ability to individually manage projects with various internal business and support function clients
- Team work – ability to work effectively within the SG Americas team
Translations – while not a daily need, there is a need for periodic translation of materials from English to French/French to English
The VIE assignment in a nutshell
This VIE in Montreal is to begin as soon as possible, but you need to plan 3 months between your application date and the beginning of your VIE assignment. It will last 24 months.
