Responsibilities

Our Application Trading DevOps team (4 persons in Frankfurt) within a larger group of 30 persons on the applications. The team is responsible for the tooling required by production team supporting one of the most critical applications used by traders in charge of the Market Making of Société Générale Listed Derivatives products. This application is in charge of OTC (Over the Counter) trading, pricing, volatility fitting, risk monitoring, streaming of prices, electronic negotiation in large volumes and high frequency computation & overall data updates.

We work closely with our Production Support team and our Development teams to maintain, develop, improve and decommission tools used by the 2 teams and additionally tools used by our customers, the Trading Floor colleagues in charge of Market Making (Traders and Sales). You will be in charge, together with the DevOps and Production Support teams, of monitoring our productive system and solve or prevent technical issues.

We are at the heart of an industrial pre-trade information system involving hundreds of servers, processes and applications interacting in real time to allow the business to stream live prices of about 700k financial instruments and to negotiate electronically up to 1 million requests per day.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain, develop, improve and decommission tools used by teams withing our Market Making application scope
  • Maintain well known technologies like ELK, Grafana stack, Prometheus, telemetry, and more
  • Evaluate existing tools and formulate improvement proposals
  • Investigate Issues raised by Traders through chats, emails, or directly upon request by our production team or on a voluntary base
  • Coordinate end-to-end the resolution of an issue, communicate to the management and to the traders about the status and the estimated time of resolution
  • Follow-up remediation actions leading to preventing next incidents of the same nature (monitoring enhancements, additional checks, information to users, feature implementations)
  • Perform testing of new deliveries in non-productive environments
  • Coordinate transversal projects with an impact in our perimeter
  • To cover the needs of the application, the team is organized in shifts where rolling principles are followed. Important for the production is coverage of morning/evening checks (usually 7:00 - 18:00) before/after business open/close

Profile required

PLEASE NOTE that since this program is primarily an international development program, candidates cannot apply for a VIE assignment in their own country of citizenship.

Studies & experience:

  • Master’s degree from Business School or University, ideally with a specialization in Hardware or Software engineering
  • Some experience working with Relational and non-relational Databases (e.g. Sybase ASE, Postgresql, MongoDB, ElasitcSearch), visualization and monitoring tools (e.g. Prometheus, CMAK, Grafana stack), S3 Technologies would be appreciated

Language skills:

  • Fluency in English (written and orally) is a must and German is a plus

Technical, operational & soft skills:

  • You have a good understanding of Linux, Networking, Shell, Python or other programing/scripting languages

The VIE assignment in a nutshell

This VIE in Germany is to begin as soon as possible, but you need to plan 3 months between your application date and the beginning of your VIE assignment. It will last 12 months.

In case a VISA is necessary, please make sure your passport is valid up to 6 months after the end of the VIE contract to not delay your departure.

The VIE is a specific contract, under Business France’s eligibility criteria, opened to candidates under 28 and from the member states of the European Economic Space. For further information (including your financial indemnities), please see Mon VIE-VIA Business France.
