V.I.E. Research Analyst
Responsibilities
MARK/GRS Asia team brings together economists and equity, rates, FX, quantitative and derivatives strategists to deliver integrated research on Asia’s economies and financial markets. Combining top-down macroeconomic analysis with market and quantitative expertise, we examine the key forces shaping growth, inflation, policy, capital flows, asset prices and market structure across the region. Through close collaboration across disciplines and asset classes, we seek to identify investment opportunities, uncover structural trends and provide actionable insights for SG's institutional clients.
Responsibilities:
- Develop leading expertise on Asia ETF markets and their role in shaping capital allocation, market structure, and investment outcomes.
- Analyse the interaction between ETF flows, valuations, liquidity conditions, volatility, and the cost of capital.
- Conduct quantitative and empirical research in partnership with Equity, Quantitative, and Volatility Strategy teams.
- Produce proprietary indicators and actionable insights for institutional clients and internal stakeholders.
- Identify structural trends and emerging risks arising from the growing importance of passive investment and ETF ecosystems in Asia.
- Communicate research findings through publications, presentations, and client engagements.

PLEASE NOTE that since this program is primarily an international development program, candidates cannot apply to a VIE assignment in their own country of citizenship.

Studies & experience:
Graduate with a Master degree in financial engineering or related subjects
A previous experience in sell-side research would be appreciated
Language skills:
Fluent in English (B2-C1)
Technical, operational & Soft skills:
- Strong quantitative and statistical skills, including proficiency in Python.
- Experience working with large financial datasets and market databases, including Bloomberg.
- Solid understanding of ETF market structure. Knowledge of equity, fixed income, FX and derivative markets.
- Proficient/Good command of MS Office, Copilot
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex quantitative findings into clear, actionable research for institutional investors.
The VIE assignment in a nutshell
This VIE in Hong Kong is to begin as soon as possible, but you need to plan 3 months between your application date and the beginning of your VIE assignment. It will last 12 months.
The VIE is a specific contract, under Business France’s eligibility criteria, opened to candidates under 28 and from the member states of the European Economic Space. For further information (including your financial indemnities), please see Mon VIE-VIA Business France.
