Responsibilities

The Compliance function in SG Amsterdam is primarily responsible for assisting the management of the branch in establishing a robust Compliance framework designed to evaluate and mitigate the compliance risks that the institution might be exposed to. While the branch management relies upon the Compliance function to build the appropriate Compliance framework, at the same time the ultimate responsibility is delegated to the business (first line of defense) for ensuring that the framework operates effectively to mitigate compliance risk. In that regard, the Compliance function has an additional important task to act as an independent advisor to the assigned BUs/SUs present at the branch with the responsibility for providing expert guidance on the relevant regulatory matters and assisting the business in the Netherlands in achieving appropriate conduct and customer outcomes while managing regulatory and reputational risks that the bank may face as a result of its failure to comply with the relevant laws, regulations and policies.

·        Support the local Compliance function in conducting the annual compliance risk assessment for the activities present in the branch in order to analyze the entity's specific exposure to money laundering, sanctions and terrorist financing risks and to detect possible gaps in the existing compliance framework and, consequently, support establishing and tracking the completion of the resulting action plans

·        Review KYC files sent by the processing teams (back offices) and draft Compliance opinions, either at the time of entering into a relationship with the clients or during the periodic review

·        Analyze alerts generated by the transaction monitoring tools or identified by the business lines in terms of AML, Sanctions & Embargos, Corruption, propose further actions (if any) and/or draft a suspicious transaction report to be sent to the FIU, where required

·        • Advise and assist business lines and the management in any matters related to Compliance (e.g. provide an opinion on particular files or activities)

·        Draft, adapt and/or update local compliance policies and procedures in accordance with Group instructions and/or local laws and regulations

·        In close cooperation with the local legal department, contribute to the maintenance of local legal watch by monitoring new legal/regulatory developments impacting the branch, advising local stakeholders on any new regulations impacting their business and/or providing an impact analysis for any compliance related matter (if applicable)

·        Actively participate in any local and/or Group Compliance-related projects
