Responsibilities

Reporting to the Head of APAC Research in HK and Global Rates Strategy in Paris, the sucessful candidate will be responsible for producing rates strategy research, with the primary focus on JPY and AUD rates. She/he will work closely with EUR and USD rates strategists within the rates strategy team as well as with Emerging Markets (EM) rates strategists.

  • Produce and publish research in coordination with other members of the rates team: Fixed-Income weekly, thematic specials, trade ideas, semi-annual Fixed Income outlook, participation in cross-asset research documents
  • High level quality content of research, when appropriate based on extensive analytical work
  • Marketing: meetings or calls with external clients, bespoke work, participation to SG research seminars or conferences. Spokesperson in APAC for DM rates and FX research
  • Cooperation within GRS: liaise / support other team members in different geographies where appropriate, participate and encourage collective thinking in order to increase cross-FIC or cross-asset production.
  • Cooperation with other business lines within the limits of the compliance rules – trading, sales, DCM, engineering
  • Innovation, efficiency – design and develop appropriate databases and analytical tools, follow the digital transformation and growing place of ESG in fixed-income. 

Profile required

  • Over 5 years proven experience in sell-side or buy side rates or economic research, with specific experience in JPY or AUD rates (cash and derivatives).
  • Knowledge and proven experience in rates and fixed-income markets
  • Strong global macro skills
  • Ability to set up and conduct research projects
  • Quantitative and analytical skills: at least basic econometrics or statistics
  • Writing/speaking skills in English: interesting and thought provoking but always appropriate and accurate
  • Innovative mind: deliver original research, both in content and style
  • Applied knowledge of IT tools – Excel/VBA or Python
  • Aim to learn and adapt to changing environment and business priorities

Department Description

The rates strategy team is responsible for providing strategic research and recommendations in global rates markets to SG’s clients, as well as providing a key support function to the FIC business (trading, sales and Debt Capital Markets). The team is geographically split between London / Paris / New York / Bangalore and is part of the Global Research Solutions (GRS) department with around 200 analysts, strategists and economists combining their expertise into a cross-asset approach: analysis of the impact of major events on different asset classes, assessment of the links between asset classes, and strategic synthesis of this key information to provide an integrated view. All GRS research is published via www.sgmarkets.com.
