Responsibilities

Description of the Business Line or Department

SG Kleinwort Hambros (SGKH) finance team is responsible for the maintenance of accounting records, production of statutory accounts, production of Group financial accounts, production of financial reports to the regulators, liaising with the middle and front offices on maintenance of existing structures as well as new business initiatives across SG’s UK booking platforms.

The Financial Accounting team is responsible for statutory and group reporting as well as the integrity of the balance sheet and P&L used by other teams on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis.

SG Kleinwort Hambros is currently in the process of being acquired by new parent company UBP. This is a new role based onshore in London to replace the current offshore service centre and to aid with the transition to a new target operating model.

Summary of the key purposes of the role

·       To produce accurate and timely financial information and maintain effective financial controls for the SG Hambros Group for review by Group Head of Accounting and Financial Reporting and CFO

·       The ensure smooth onshoring of month end tasks from the former offshore team to enable consistent delivery of month end P&L and balance sheet

·       Liaison with the group auditors and collaborate to work towards a smooth and timely delivery of audited statutory accounts

Summary of responsibilities

Financial close for SGKH working with the existing onshore SGKH finance team:

·       Preparing and processing a portion of the month-end journals

·       Reporting and escalation of issues as identified as part of the close process

Working with the SGKH Financial Performance Analysis team:

·       Assisting with reconciliation of management reporting to the Financial Accounting results.

·       variance analysis of the group reporting

Liaison with the Group Auditors:

·       Collaborate to work towards a smooth and timely delivery of audited statutory accounts. Responding to information requests as appropriate and assistance in clearance of audit testing

Work with other teams both inside and outside finance:

·       Coordinate with other stakeholders to ensure the provision of quality information within strict deadlines.

·       Respond to queries as they arise

Additional responsibilities:

·       Controls – Balance sheet account certification

·       Coordination and communication with offshore team in the transition process

·       Escalate issues as they arise and monitor the resolution of issues assisting as required

Profile required

Competencies

·       The ideal candidate will hold a degree or equivalent in a Finance, Business or Accounting related field

·       Some previous work experience in an accounting / reconciliations field is advantageous

·       Good numeracy skills

·       Good analytical skills and ability to review outputs

·       Excellent level of written and verbal English essential

·       Good operational skills and experience of planning and delivering to deadlines

·       Excellent communication skills required

·       Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of seniority

·       Ability to adhere to business processes, standards, policies and procedures
