Responsibilities

Description of the Business Line or Department

The Communication team at Societe Generale UK ensures:

·       The definition of the communication strategy in the UK, in line with Group Communication.

·       The promotion of Societe Generale’s brand, culture, values, and identity in the UK.

·       The support of its activities, principally in Financing & Advisory, Global Markets and Investment Services, Private Banking and Cash Equities

The Communication team is organised around three interlinked pillars:

·       Press & Editorial

·       Corporate Engagement

·       Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)

Brand, Sponsorship, Internal Communications, and Events are part of the Corporate Engagement pillar. The Press & Editorial pillar includes Media Relations, Editorial and Social Media. CSR focuses on Community impact, including through staff support.

Summary of the key purposes of the role

The internship offered in the Societe Generale UK communications team allows an 11-month experience (with scope to broaden to 22 months) dedicated to contributing to the promotion of Societe Generale to its internal and external UK stakeholders with a specific focus on events.

Based in London, the role covers a large range of digital and physical events within the UK, along with wider support for internal and external communication activities.

Summary of responsibilities

As part of the Comms Team, the main responsibilities are to:

  • Support and work alongside a team of two Event Managers in the delivery of their events.  This will include event planning, budget setting, liaison with suppliers and internal/external stakeholders, on-site management, post-event feedback and budget reconciliation.
  • Help a team of two CSR Managers in the delivery of their events. This will include the responsibilities above and involve employee volunteers and external charity clients.
  • Administrative support for the matched funding for the SG UK Foundation.
  • Manage the day-to-day delivery of our event offering and attend events on a solo basis as required.
  • Manage our ticketing responsibilities linked to the Royal Albert Hall and Twickenham (rugby).
  • Develop key relationships both internally (business and corporate teams) and externally (venues, suppliers, etc.).
  • In addition, support the wider comms team with the delivery of its corporate engagement and press & editorial strategy, as and when required.
  • This could include working on staff engagement campaigns, internal events, and assisting with editorial content on the intranet, website, weekly newsletters and through our social media accounts.

Profile required

Competencies

You will have a strong interest in developing your career in communication and events within the Financial Services sector.  You want to develop your experience by working in a small, busy team. This role offers you the chance to develop your event management and communication skills further by being responsible for delivering events and activities which represent the Societe Generale brand and promotes the bank.

·       Previous events management experience essential

·       Must be detail-oriented and able to thrive under pressure

Note: The position requires flexibility in terms of working out of normal office hours and potential to travel within the UK.
