Responsibilities

DFIN or Finance department has a broad mandate to support Business Units, Service Units and General Management in terms of financial and strategic steering. DFIN strives to provide comprehensive and insightful performance indicators and financial information.

DFIN/COM/LOC under the finance department delivers the financial and regulatory reports in compliance with applicable standards and obligations. Legal entity control is on of the key pillar within this department and performs the below functions:

  • Maintain the books and records for the various SGUS Entities
  • Work closely with Finance and Operations teams in the monthly closing process
  • Oversee the monthly accrual process
  • Submit the Financial Statement Packages to SG Paris, analyze and explain the variations in it
  • Handle various US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) audits
  • Oversee the financial production process performed in offshore locations
  • Oversight of the General Ledger (GL) processes performed by Offshore locations, Certification of account balances
  • Monthly, quarterly/yearly  performance of Control

As part of your VIE mission, your main responsibilities will be as follows :

  • Produce and control entity wide expenses for our service center entities. That includes (but not limited to), preparing accounting entries, building procedural controls and interacting with different stakeholders in Canada, US, Paris and Asia
  • Preparation of monthly financial statements for service center units in Canada
  • Producing inter entity and regional recharge invoices
  • Monitor the service center bank accounts and perform timely bank reconciliations. Raise and follow up on issues with respective stakeholders like HR and accounts payable
  • Help in production of financials for Legal entities in Team's scope by preparing accounting entries, performing account  reconciliations, producing monthly financial statements and other account substantiation documents
  • Liaise with IT teams in the region and help deliver new (and existing) enhancement projects for the team
  • Have an automation driven mindset. Help build new reporting tools in Power BI or Alteryx

Profile required

PLEASE NOTE that since this program is primarily an international development program, candidates cannot apply to a VIE assignment in their own country of citizenship.

Studies & experience:

  • Graduate with a Master’s degree from a Business/Engineering School or University with a specialization in Accounting
  • A previous experience in Accounting/Audit would be appreciated

Language skills:

  • Fluent in English

Technical, operational & soft skills:

  • Good communication and presentation skills
  • Proficient/Good command of MS Office
  • Working in Power BI, Alteryx, Power Query will be a plus, but not mandatory

 

The VIE assignment in a nutshell

This VIE in Montreal is to begin as soon as possible, but you need to plan 3 months between your application date and the beginning of your VIE assignment. It will last 24 months.

In case a visa is necessary, please make sure your passport is valid up to 6 months after the end of the VIE contract to not delay your departure.
