Investment Banking Associate - Structured Finance and Leasing
Responsibilities
Structured Solutions & Leasing (SSL) develops, originates and executes highly innovative structured banking products for clients or for SG itself. The nature of the transactions executed by SSL are varied but typically address a specific requirement of the client or SG (being fiscal, regulatory or accounting requirement) as follows:
Asset backed financing including the following
- Lease financing of real estate and various types of equipment
- Other asset-based financing
- Tax equity/ Investment Tax Credits and Production Tax Credits (solar, wind, etc…)
- Inventory and other structured receivables financing
- Hybrid capital (preferred equity, minority interest, etc.) financing
- Transportation asset financing (focused on railcars, vehicles, containers, etc.)
- Acquisition of leasing companies and leasing assets
- Financing or hedging transactions that provide an attractive financing cost/regulatory efficiency
- Structuring M&A to increase efficiency on pre- or post-tax basis as appropriate
- Implementing efficient tools to manage client cash positions including in emerging markets
- Transactions to enhance regulatory efficiency (financial institutions, insurance companies)
SSL has a specific business model based on a « one team » approach for all products & jurisdictions.
- Contribute to sustaining and expanding the SSL franchise through supporting the development and origination of transactions for clients and, where relevant, SG’s own position.
- Helping to ensure compliance with the SSL governance process including in relation to transaction execution
- Represent SSL in internal dialogues to promote the SSL franchise
- Support development of product solutions for clients and, where appropriate SG’s own position, consistent with the SSL perimeter.
- Support origination of transactions for the SSL perimeter in co-ordination with other SG business lines as appropriate.
- To undertake or assist in the execution of SSL transactions consistent with the SSL perimeter.
- To help enhance the SSL franchise in line with GLBA’s and SG Group’s strategy and priorities
Profile required
Technical:
- Ability to support the lead originators in originating, leading and assisting in the execution of structured finance transactions including legal documentation, risk, and financial modelling aspects.
- Understanding of the risk concepts (conduct, reputational, financial, etc.) underlying the governance process for SSL, GLBA, and the SG Group.
- Understanding of concepts underlying structured finance transactions including in a cross-border context. This may relate to specific areas such as tax-based or leasing, asset-backed financing, or more general areas of structured finance, including tax, accounting, and regulatory capital considerations.
- Understanding of origination concepts in relation structured finance transactions across a range of client sectors and for SG’s own position where appropriate.

COMPENSATION:
Base salary range does not include overtime pay, bonus and/or other benefits, where applicable. Actual base salary offer will vary based on skills and experience. The role is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus and includes a competitive benefits package including 401(k) plan with company match, medical/dental/vision, and other benefits for fertility, wellness, student loans and commuters.
