TRAINEE: Funds Counterparty Credit Risk
Responsibilities
Role: Support RISQ/RMA/HPC analysts in their core credit risk management functions.
1st year Key Responsibilities:
- Assist HPC analysts with credit risk assessments of hedge funds, mutual funds and proprietary trading companies, evaluating strategies, investment processes, risk controls, team capabilities, and fund specifics.
- Help prepare due diligence meeting minutes and credit memo.
- Monitoring daily credit exposure and overshoots; escalating credit quality deteriorations according to credit policy.
- Produce regular exposure and risk reporting; analyze overshoots and escalate issues as needed.
- Participate in various team initiatives as required.
- Staying informed on industry trends, macroeconomic issues, and regulatory environments affecting counterparties is also expected, enabling informed recommendations for client or portfolio actions.
2nd year Key Responsibilities:
- Continue performing all the core responsibilities from the 1st year.
- Take greater ownership of credit risk cases and reporting, including independently drafting credit memos and lead due diligence meetings depending on the trainee's progress and performance.
Candidates with outstanding performance will be considered for early conversion to permanent roles.

The Trainee role is a full time 24-month contract with Societe Generale where you will have access to a diverse range of training materials to help you succeed, covering various aspects of businesses, including but not limited to technical skills, leadership development, communication skills, client service and relationship management. To be eligible, please ensure you have completed your qualification and will be available to work full time for the duration of Trainee contract.
Profile required
- Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, or other business-related discipline. A CFA designation would be highly beneficial.
- Basic knowledge of counterparty credit risk, OTC & Listed derivatives and/or securities financing transactions.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities
- Attention to details; unaffected under high pressure
- Good written and spoken communication skills in English
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Power BI. Coding in VBA / Python is a plus.
- Self-starter with the ability to learn quickly and to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently while understanding when to involve other team members as needed and to work effectively in a team environment.
