Responsibilities

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION

The role of RISQ/RMA/HPC team, as second line of defense within the Risk Function, is to provide Counterparty Credit Risk (CCR) management for funds (hedge funds, mutual funds, funds of hedge funds), proprietary trading groups and CCPs. The team provides independent risk control services for Société Generale when exposed to these types of clients.

The position is for Senior Analyst within RISQ RMA HPC who will cover a portfolio of clients, across one or several client types covered by the team.

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES

The role involves

  Research and analyse financial data, whenever required, on the client to prepare high quality analysis that address client’s credit risk and transaction risk

  Performing risk assessment (including conducting due diligence on the client when required)

  Effectively challenge the credit rating and credit limits as proposed by first line of defense.

  Active monitoring of risk exposures (across a broad range of metrics and indicators), and counterparty creditworthiness

  Raise alerts as necessary, to the business, first line of defense, and 2nd line of defense management

  Review or propose risk mitigation (legal terms, margination …) when deemed necessary

  Presentation of recommendations for risk limits, one-off transactions, and credit ratings to  risk officer having delegations

  Coordinate for a credit request, liaise with Business Lines, Legal staffs, Global advisory divisions and other stakeholders

  Contribute to transversal analysis (such as deep dive on specific risks) and project (e.g. review of methodologies or CCR management process)

  Additional responsibility for ensuring awareness of and adherence to internal policies and guidelines (both set at SG level, and at the department level)

 

COMPETENCIES

Ø  TECHNICAL SKILLS

  Good quantitative skills

  Experience in reading and understanding legal documentation (ISDAs, GMRAs, term sheets, rule books, prospectuses)

  Ability to independently form, defend, and enforce a risk judgement and take decision.

  Good analysis and synthesis abilities; relevancy and objectivity in the analysis

  Be comfortable interacting with senior personnel, both internally and with clients.

  Knowledge of capital markets/OTC traded products/ Securities lending business and committed financing facilities.

  Ability to analyze and evaluate counterparty risk and financial condition utilizing quantitative and qualitative data.

Ø  BEHAVIORAL SKILLS

  Fluency in English, both written and verbal.

  Strong communication and presentation skills.

  Desire to work in a fast paced, challenging environment.

  Good problem-solving skills

  Demonstrated flexibility and willingness to work for a global team with intensive international exposure across multiple time-zones (US, EMEA and APAC)

  Self-starter able to meet deadlines and work independently as well as contribute to team goals

 

Profile required

PRIOR WORK EXPERIENCE

Required: 5+ years of overall credit analysis experience preferably in Financial Institution space.

EDUCATION

Required: CA degree /MBA (in Finance) from a reputed institution

Additional certification like Financial Risk Management (FRM) or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) would be a plus
