Responsibilities

Web Development:

  • Design, develop, and maintain web applications using TypeScript, React, Angular, C#, and .NET.
  • Collaborate with the team to implement new features and enhance existing functionalities.
  • Participate in hands-on feature development and contribute to the overall codebase.

Collaboration, Mentorship & Global Liaison:

  • Work closely with the Technical Leader and other team members locally and globally to ensure alignment with project goals and technical standards.
  • Engage in pair programming sessions to learn from senior developers and enhance your coding skills.
  • Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and adherence to best practices.
  • Liaise with other technical teams to ensure that our digital transformation strategy is correctly applied.
  • Foster collaboration and knowledge sharing across global teams to enhance overall project outcomes.

Process, Automation & Obsolescence:

  • Contribute to the implementation of infrastructure-as-code practices and automated CI/CD processes.
  • Assist in optimizing daily processes and workflows to improve productivity and efficiency.
  • Help manage legacy systems and address obsolescence to ensure technology remains current and effective.
  • Actively participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends.

Production Support & Site Reliability:

  • Respond to all production requests, complaints, and incidents in a timely manner to ensure minimal disruption to services.
  • Assist in maintaining high availability and performance of web applications.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of site reliability engineering practices to enhance system reliability and performance.
  • Maintain production documentation on troubleshooting procedures to support efficient incident resolution.

Project & Stakeholder Management:

  • Evaluate business processes and requirements to identify the most effective solutions that optimize the balance between cost and benefits.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand their requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Communicate technical concepts and project statuses clearly and effectively to stakeholders and address any concerns, to ensure alignment between stakeholder expectations and project deliverables.
  • Encourage and guide the business to adapt to new processes, when necessary, due to technical restrictions in the implemented solution.
  • Challenge business priorities and decisions to ensure alignment with the right strategic direction.

Department Description

The Digital Channel and Client Intelligence team at Société Générale's Global Banking Technology & Operations unit is responsible for managing a wide range of web applications on our B2B marketplace, SG Markets. SG Markets offers services in market activities, including providing liquidity, trading, sales, and execution across a range of asset classes such as fixed income, equities, derivatives, and currencies. In essence, SG Markets plays a key role in facilitating the efficient functioning of financial markets by offering both advisory and transactional services to institutional clients.

Our projects involve developing features within a complex, multi-region service environment that requires coordination across several teams. We are looking for a committed software engineer who demonstrates strong technical skills and consistently delivers high-quality code. The ideal candidate will be proactive, bringing forward ideas and solutions to improve the project, and will dare to challenge the status quo to drive innovation. High productivity and attention to detail are essential, as is a meticulous approach to code quality. Additionally, the candidate should follow established processes and standards to ensure smooth collaboration and reliable outcomes across the teams involved. This role offers an opportunity to work on challenging tasks while contributing to a critical, large-scale system.

Profile required

The successful candidate shall possess extensive experience in designing and constructing modern web applications in accordance with industry best practices. Key responsibilities include

  • Developing application designs and presenting them to internal IT counterparts and business stakeholders.
  • Creating web applications for both internal users and external clients.
  • Developing web services to enhance the API offerings for external clients.
  • Partnering with regional team members to coordinate cross-regional projects, align global IT strategies, and streamline communications among diverse teams.

Qualifications required:

  • Strong experience in web development using TypeScript, React, C#, and .NET Core.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms, particularly Azure Cloud, and container orchestration tools like Kubernetes and ArgoCD is a plus.
  • Understanding of infrastructure-as-code and automated CI/CD processes.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively manage stakeholder relationships.
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies and methodologies.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across global teams and adapt to different cultural environments.
