Responsibilities

The role of Funds Risk Department is to provide counterparty risk management for hedge funds, regulated funds, fund of hedge funds, proprietary trading groups and Central Counterparty Clearing Houses (CCPs). As a second line of defense (LOD2), the department provides independent risk control services for SG when exposed to these counterparty types. It performs full risk assessment including client due diligence, limit setting, counterparty rating as well as monitoring of counterparty risk exposures across all business lines within the SG Group that transact with funds or take funds’ shares as collateral.

To work with the Hedge Fund Risk Management team in New York to help them in their risk analysis and monitoring of hedge fund counterparties and investments. The position will have great visibility into a wide array of hedge fund strategies and be able to learn about the most current financial/derivative products. This is an excellent introduction to hedge funds and derivatives markets as well as how a top tier dealer manages the related risks. VIE will be trained on proprietary systems to perform cursory analysis of hedge funds and to monitor and generate reports on hedge fund performance and asset evolution. Other responsibilities will be related to monitoring departmental activities such as due diligence schedule and statistics, annual review process and policies and procedures. The candidate will be working in a very dynamic environment and have exposure to a vast amount of information on hedge fund strategies, risk analysis and sophisticated financial products. Profile required

PLEASE NOTE that since this program is primarily an international development program, candidates cannot apply to a VIE assignment in their own country of citizenship.

Studies & experience:

  • Graduate with a Master's degree from a Business/Engineering School or University with a specialization in Finance
  • A previous experience in Risk Management would be appreciated

Language skills:

  • Fluent in English

Operational, technical & soft skills:

  • Good communication and presentation skills
  • Strong analytical and writing skills
  • Proficient/Good command of MS Office

The VIE assignment in a nutshell

This VIE in New York is to begin as soon as possible, but you need to plan 3 months between your application date and the beginning of your VIE assignment. It will last 18 months.

In case a visa is necessary, please make sure your passport is valid up to 6 months after the end of the VIE contract to not delay your departure.
