Responsibilities

RESPONSABILITIES

  • Be responsible for driving the data/AI transformation of the SGIAA audit hub by locally implementing IGAD’s data-driven audit strategy and its four pillars: data access, auditors’ data skills, integration of data into the audit process, and data/AI tools.
  • Animate SGIAA data champions community (training, knowledge sharing).
  • Support auditor training in data analysis through sessions and hands-on case support.
  • Develop automation or solutions for audits as needed and aligned with IGAD/DAT strategy, not only for SGIAA when global requirements arise but also for all IGAD audits.
  • Ensure data access strategy and resources developed abroad are shared and known within SGIAA.
  • Be responsible of the “run” of data/AI works for SGIAA assignments
  • Prioritize the data approaches for SGIAA assignments and propose the most effective processing methods.
  • Oversee and actively participate in SGIAA data bootcamps sessions (collaborative workshops where auditors and data experts explore how data can be used to support future audit missions).
  • Contribute to SGIAA assignments requiring advanced data expertise by: (i) understanding and clarifying auditors' challenges, (ii) proposing data-driven solutions, and (iii) leading the study from end to end in close collaboration with mission teams. More specifically, they bring their expertise to the mission to:
    • identify the necessary data, liaise with the data owner(s), and if needed, organize data collection while respecting its sensitivity, the ethics of the work performed, and compliance rules;
    • identify the data science techniques to be used and perform them;
    • present the analysis results in a clear and useful manner to both the mission participants and the audited service, by drafting conclusions and providing a documented and, if necessary, reusable deliverable.
  • Represent SGIAA in governance forums between IGAD/AUD/GBI and IGAD/DAT (IGAD central datalab), including raising needs, data access challenges, or other relevant issues.
  • Actively contribute to IGAD/DAT initiatives, including cross-experience sharing, presentations, peer recruitment and training, tool development, etc.
  • Participate in spreading the use of data and AI within the Group

Profile required

PROFILE REQUIRED

The Data Scientist role requires the following behavioral skills:

  • Intellectual curiosity and an interest in the banking sector with a drive to understand both the activities and the needs of auditors and audited parties.
  • Rigor, risk sensitivity, sense of responsibility.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Initiative, willingness to go beyond the existing framework, result orientation, problem-solving mindset, a taste for challenges, and the ability to drive change.
  • Autonomy and a strong team spirit.

As the Data Scientist requires the following technical skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of data mining and machine learning fields, particularly from an algorithmic perspective (mastery of usual data science methods).
  • Proficiency in common database management languages (SQL) and mandatory expertise in Python for data manipulation and analysis tasks.
  • Theoretical and practical knowledge in the use and integration of APIs, as well as in automated data processing pipelines (e.g., Kedro), is ideally expected.
  • Knowledge of data visualization tools such as Power BI or a data wrangling tool such as Knime is ideally expected.
  • Possibly knowledge of the Group's applications and data warehouses.

LANGUAGE: 

Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing, is a requirement as the person in this position will need to collaborate regularly with colleagues and partners in the United States.
