Responsibilities

Société Générale Global Transaction Banking (GTB) includes payment and cash management, cash clearing services, trade services, factoring and foreign exchange services associated to these activities.
GTB integrates all the expertise and services required to facilitate the daily transactional activities of major economic and financial actors both in a domestic and international scope. Trade Services (TRA) is a strategic activity for Société Générale. We can offer the expertise of a large international banking group and experience spanning over twenty years. As a real local Bank in all the countries where we operate, our global system ensures optimal coordination. We can intervene in Trade Services in Europe, Africa, Asia, Americas, Overseas, and in the Middle East. 
The responsiveness and dynamism of our teams, their accurate knowledge of market trends and regulations, the strength of our networks and our diverse range of products allow us to optimize the daily management of the cash flow, the commercial and financial transactions for our corporate clients. 
As Middle Officer Trade Services you will support the GTB/Trade Services team in Amsterdam in executing trade transactions for Dutch and Nordic customers, and act as a back up for the Belgian customers. You will report to the Coordinator of the Benelux Trade Middle Office. 
Products and services marketed in Amsterdam will include, amongst others:
•    International Guarantees
•    Import Letters of Credit
•    Export Letters of Credit
•    Active cross-selling with the different Business Lines of the Bank especially with the cash management and factoring department of GTB.
The role requires a strong client service orientation, operational and process knowledge, knowledge of regulatory and risk processes, analytical and communication skills as well as professional integrity at all times. 
He/she will be an effective team player and possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal) . 

Tasks:

  • Support of the Trade Sales Team in executing Trade Finance transactions  
  • Follow up on client requests and needs, and identify new opportunities
  • Close cooperation with Back Office teams in connection with monitoring/handling of client orders and other operational issues
  • Close cooperation with all teams within the global Trade Services Network, as well as with all supporting teams within Paris headquarters and other locations
  • Active cooperation with all other local business lines within the Amsterdam Branch
  • Managing administrative tasks in connection with Trade Services transactions (invoicing, internal & regulatory reporting etc.)

  • Create added value for clients pro-actively identifying synergies within the Global Transaction Banking Business Lines (like cash management or factoring)
  • Execute compliance checks before the transactions and obtain upfront compliance approvals before processing a trade transaction
  • Create or maintain RMA keys in order to manage the connected correspondent banks
  • Verify availability within credit facility before executing trade transactions
  • Participate in the permanent supervision activities of the trade services desk
  • Monitor validation and renewal of credit lines

Profile required

PLEASE NOTE that since this program is primarily an international development program, candidates cannot apply to a VIE assignment in their own country of citizenship.

Studies & experience:

  • Graduate with a Master degree in Finance or Business Administration

  • A previous experience in trade finance / international business or banking would be appreciated

Language skills:

  • Fluent in English. Other foreign language skills like Dutch or any Scandinavian language would be an asset

Technical, operational & Soft skills:

  • Pro-active team player with high level of commitment and responsibility
  • Time management, organizational and planning skills with proven ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to learn and work in a deadline-driven and culturally diverse environment
  • Capacity to work autonomously
  •  Ability to work with multiple stakeholders
  • Good communication and presentation skills
  • Proficient/Good command of MS Office
  • Client oriented work approach

The VIE assignment in a nutshell
This VIE in Amsterdam is to begin as soon as possible, but you need to plan 3 months between your application date and the beginning of your VIE assignment. It will last 12 months.
