Consultant Systems Engineer - OCS
Responsibilities
Role Overview
We are looking for a skilled DEV OPS engineer to support and enhance our internal VM migration framework and tooling within SG Private Cloud. The role focuses on automation and executing virtual machine migrations using in‑house & third‑party tools. The ideal candidate combines strong cloud fundamentals with hands‑on development and CI/CD experience, along with solid analytical and debugging capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute and optimize VM migration workflows using the internal migration tool.
- Develop and maintain Python-based automation scripts, modules, and integration components.
- Build, maintain, and improve CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins + GitLab preferred).
- Troubleshoot migration failures, identify root causes, and implement long‑term fixes.
- Support cloud onboarding and transformation initiatives for internal customers.
- Collaborate with Cloud Engineering, Infrastructure, and Platform teams to ensure smooth and secure migration processes.
- Document solutions, processes, and runbooks to ensure operational excellence.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 4+ years of hands-on experience with Python development (automation, tooling, scripts, APIs).
- 14+ years Linux engineering in production at scale (RHEL).
- Solid experience with Jenkins and CI/CD pipeline design, integration, and maintenance.
- Good understanding of cloud technologies (private cloud, virtualization, networking, storage concepts).
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and debugging skills, especially for migration errors, automation flows, and system-level issues.
- Experience in infrastructure automation or DevOps environments.
- Ability to work in an Agile context and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
✨ Nice-to-Have (Optional)
- Knowledge of VMware, OpenStack,or other virtualization stacks.
- Experience with REST APIs, infrastructure-as-code tools, or container technologies.
- Exposure to migration tools (cloud or on-prem).
