Responsibilities

Financial accounting & control

  • [Account substantiation] Prepare a monthly Financial Control synthesis memo at entity level summarizing the account substantiation status, anomalies, financial risk at stake and follow up actions.  Prepare control documentation for all accounts owned by Finance to ensure all account balances are substantiated.  Review the reconciliations and account substantiation documentation provided by other departments, challenge in case of anomalies and proactively follow up on the status of action plan.  
  • [FX position management] In charge of monthly FX sell down process and management of FX position certification at entity level. Prepare the FX controls dashboard and execute the relevant controls to ensure all issues are followed up and resolved in a timely manner.
  • [Accounting closing] Prepare monthly closing accounting journals, e.g. tax, cost recharge, etc.  
    Group reporting
  • Review the group reporting packages prepared by offshored team in India using a formalized control checklist and perform sign off as onshore team in Hong Kong. Provide constant feedback and follow up to ensure agreed action plan is delivered to improve quality. 
  • Produce the tax schedule for group reporting package.
  • Support queries and ad hoc requests from head office as required 

Asset & Liabilities Management 

  • Preparation of ALCO meeting materials, including agendas, presentation and meeting minutes. Follow up in case of any issues/ breaches in IRRBB, FXBB, liquidity risk.
  • Analyze and explain on the variation of balance sheet and off-balance sheet items and structural risk metric.
  • Monitor and manage ALCO agenda timelines as per yearly plan, including preparation of supporting documentation for topics requiring annual ALCO validation, ensure timely completion and coordination with LOD2 review by the Risk department. 
    Regulatory reporting
  • Produce liquidity ratios on daily basis and liquidity dashboard to the management.  
  • Prepare regulatory reports and execute relevant controls to ascertain accuracy.   

Transversal topics 

  • Support the CFO & manager for any ad hoc or new initiatives/ ideas to improve the deliverables of the Finance team.

Department Description

Finance Service Unit (“DFIN”) coordinates the Finance Line and ensures the Group’s financial production, steering and management via a number of complementary missions:

  • Support business lines, service units and general management in terms of financial and strategic steering 
  • Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and obligations 
  • Ensure monitoring and steering of P&L and scarce resources performance (capital, liquidity, balance sheet) in keeping within strategic objectives and in compliance with regulatory obligations 
  • Maintain financial crisis management plans 
  • Ensure management of structural interest rate, foreign exchange and liquidity risks
  • Ensure regulatory watch on topics pertaining to scarce resources, accounting and finance.  

Profile required

  • Strong analytical skills to evaluate data, attention to details with financial sense, challenge and escalate when there is abnormal variance or it is unreasonable
  • Good organization and multi-tasking skills 
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills with proficiency in written and spoken English and Cantonese (Cantonese speaker is a strongly preferred for better integration with other team members) 
  • Knowledge in HKMA regulatory reporting would be a definite advantage. 
  • University degree in Finance or Accounting. CPA is preferred.
  • Relevant experiences in Finance Department in banking industry 
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint 
  • Knowledge in HKMA reporting would be a definite advantage.
