V.I.E. Trader Assistant - Synthetic Trading desk
Responsibilities
At Société Générale, you will be joining the Global Markets division (MARK) of SG Corporate and Investment Banking. MARK offers a cross-asset approach along all its offerings: Research, Investment & Risk Management Solutions, Execution and Prime Services to asset managers, pension funds, companies, private banks, insurance companies, hedge funds, family offices, sovereign funds and distributors worldwide.
The Synthetic Trading desk is a trading team belonging to the EQD/PRIME business line within the Global Banking & Investor Solutions division.
Responsibilities :
- You will support Traders by providing high‑quality data analysis, developing Python‑based tools, and contributing to the desk’s daily decision‑making
- You will work autonomously on analytical projects, optimization problems, and process improvements that directly enhance trading performance
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze datasets to solve optimization problems (inventory, pricing, flows) and deliver actionable insights
- Develop and maintain Python tools to monitor positions, risks, and client activity, and to streamline daily desk processes
- Run historical analyses to identify trading opportunities and support tactical decisions
- Contribute to daily operations, including producing position reports and handling essential operational tasks
A questionnaire will be provided to you in order to check your VIE (Société Générale and Business France) eligibility. For an efficient analysis of your application, please make sure to truthfully answer all the questions.
Please note that it is mandatory to provide us a formal proof of your M2 diploma validation before the assignment start date. No VIE mission will start without this document. *Grade sheets are not accepted as justification of diploma.
Profile required
PLEASE NOTE that since this program is primarily an international development program, candidates cannot apply to a VIE assignment in their own country of citizenship.

Studies & experience:
Graduate with a Master degree in in a quantitative field (e.g., Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Engineering)
Language skills:
Fluent English (B2-C1)
Technical, operational & Soft skills:
Proficient in Python development

Proactivity and rigor are essential
The VIE assignment in a nutshell
This VIE in Hong Kong is to begin as soon as possible, but you need to plan 3 months between your application date and the beginning of your VIE assignment. It will last 12 months.
The VIE is a specific contract, under Business France’s eligibility criteria, opened to candidates under 28 and from the member states of the European Economic Space. For further information (including your financial indemnities), please see Mon VIE-VIA Business France.
