Responsibilities

We are seeking a Structured Finance Middle Office professional who can join Global Banking Service Unit in Société Générale, a global financial institution that aims to support businesses, trades, and transformations financially since its foundation in 1864. About Global Banking Service Unit
The ambition of Global Banking Service Unit (GBTO) is to deliver Technology and Operations excellence in our day-to-day services to Global Banking and Investor Solutions (GBIS) Business Units and their clients.
We follow market activities, 24/7?, in real time, from Hong Kong to Montreal. We manage the customer lifecycle and develop solutions to control the Bank's risk and protect our businesses.
To meet evolving client needs and market requirements, as well as to anticipate technological advances, our role is to accelerate and support the transformation of GBIS activities. GBTO is at the very heart of this technological and operational challenge.
Role Summary
The Structured Finance Middle Office team works on the middle office activities for the structured finance transactions within the Global Banking & Advisory business (GLBA). Structured Finance covers various sectors including energy, metals and mining, infrastructure, shipping, real estate, aircraft and export financing. The Middle Office team in Asia covers the full APAC scope including Australia/New Zealand, Hong Kong/China, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, Singapore, India, and other South-East Asia locations.
Your Key Contributions
Agent & Account Bank Role
- Act as a key coordination point between internal teams and external counterparties, including borrowers, lenders, agents, and external counsels.
- Handle borrower’s waiver or amendment requests communication/coordination
- Covenant documents collection and distribution.
- Handle cash waterfall for Real Estate Finance , Project Finance and Export Finance. [comment: Not for other lines ?
Transaction Management & Deal Closing, De closing & Lifecycle Support
- Review and analyze legal documentation (facility agreements) to support transaction execution: Identify operational obligations, agency responsibilities, conditions precedent (CPs), and post closing requirements such as cash waterfall and covenants.
- Support Back Office on deal closing and post closing activities to ensure smooth and timely operation, including:
- Loan drawdowns and repayments
- Loan assignments, transfers, and prepayments
- Ad-hoc client requests/queries
- Manage intermediate communications with external agents, borrowers or lenders, including engagement with Japanese counterparties where applicable.
Reporting & Oversight
- Contribute to transaction and portfolio reporting, including:
- Internal management reporting & governance meeting
- Local regulatory reports:
- Audit report & balance confirmation requests
Operational Risk & Process Discipline (SMO Focus)
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations as well as internal procedures, control frameworks, and operational risk standards.
- Identify process gaps and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within SMO.
Portfolio Coverage
- Manage a diversified business lines portfolio including:
- Real Estate Finance
- Aircraft Finance
- Shipping Finance
- Project Finance
- Export Finance
Profile required
Minimum qualifications, capabilities and skills
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Structured Finance Loan operations, including agency management.
- Fluent in Japanese and English required for legal document review and internal/external business communication. [comment: Please confirm whether this requires reading and writing only, or also spoken proficiency.]
- Strong operational and analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively and influence stakeholders when required.
- Strong team player with a willingness to learn and adapt in a dynamic environment.
- Proactive, open minded mindset with the ability to contribute ideas and drive improvements.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills
- Work Experience in Loan Agency Service, ECA Agency is highly preferred.
- Basic knowledge of loan booking and payments would be an advantage.
