CIO and Head of Global Technology & Engineering (VP) - Societe Generale Bank India (Mumbai)
Responsibilities
Job Summary: The Head of GTE & CIO for Mumbai has end to end accountability for IT strategy, governance, production stability, regulatory compliance, and infrastructure operations across Mumbai entities.
The role ensures full alignment with global and regional GTE / IT standards, strong regulatory engagement, and resilient, secure, and cost-effective IT services supporting local business and regulatory requirements.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Leadership, Strategy & IT Governance
• Represent Mumbai in the implementation of a regionally aligned GTE and IT operating model, ensuring local business needs are addressed while remaining fully compliant with global and regional standards.
• Act as a senior GTE and IT leader in Mumbai, providing strategic direction and leadership support to local and regional technology teams.
• Contribute to the definition and execution of SGCIB IT and GTE strategies, policies, and values, ensuring consistent local implementation.
• Develop and maintain strong partnerships with MARK, GLBA, GTPS, and key control functions including Compliance, Risk, Finance, Legal, and Security.
• Implement, adapt, and oversee IT governance for SG Mumbai entities, including:
• Rollout of regional IT governance, risk management, and incident management standards
• Regular review of the IT operating model and critical systems
• IT oversight and representation in SG Mumbai OES (Outsourced Essential Services) committees
• Serve as the primary escalation point for major IT infrastructure or production incidents, coordinating with regional and global stakeholders.
2. IT Operations, Infrastructure & Production Management
• Lead the Mumbai GTE organization for the design, acquisition, implementation, support, and administration of IT infrastructure and production services.
• Ensure a reliable, secure, and cost effective IT environment, aligned with GTE global and regional standards while meeting Mumbai regulatory and business requirements.
• Maintain strong alignment with Regional Production teams to:
• Monitor and track incidents
• Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions
• Promote and escalate recommendations for local India issues when required
• Re use and enforce regional production governance, processes, and reporting standards.
• Participate in Regional Production meetings and contribute on local production topics, incidents, and regulatory driven matters.
• Oversee local production management teams and ceremonies to ensure:
• Effective monitoring and availability management
• Proper incident reporting and escalation
• Timely follow up and closure
• Minimize operational risk through production stability, capacity management, and disaster recovery, in coordination with regional resilience frameworks.
3. Regulatory, Audit & Compliance Accountability
• Act as the primary IT contact with regulators in Mumbai for all matters related to information systems and technology.
• Ensure annual IT regulatory supervision, inspections, and submissions are delivered accurately and on time.
• Manage and coordinate responses to IT regulatory enquiries.
• Oversee all internal and external IT audits, ensuring:
• Adequate preparation and evidence
• Timely remediation and closure of findings
• Work closely with Compliance and Risk to assess and implement controls for new and evolving IT regulatory requirements.
• Ensure full compliance with security, audit, regulatory, and GTE governance obligations.
4. People Management & Capability Development
• Define clear objectives, KPIs, and performance reviews for Mumbai GTE and IT teams.
• Manage all people related matters, including coaching, skills development, succession planning, and capacity planning.
• Develop and scale local Helpdesk and IT support functions to support business growth, transformation initiatives, and regulatory expectations.
• Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and alignment with GTE and IT values.
5. Financial, Asset & Performance Management
• Contribute to budget planning and financial governance, ensuring cost control and value delivery in line with regional guidelines.
• Optimize resource allocation, hardware inventory, and asset lifecycle management.
• Maintain and report operational and service performance metrics, providing transparent analysis and reporting to:
• Local management and ExCo
• Regional and global stakeholders
Profile required
Academic Background (degree and major): Engineering Graduate or MCA or equivalent qualification from a recognized University / Institution
Relevant Working Experience in number of years:
• At least 15 years of experience in relevant areas, with 5 years of management experience.
• Previous technology experience either as developer, infrastructure, technical project management is preferred.
• Worked in Banking-IT related areas/projects involving IT Policy and Planning/Financial Networks and Applications/ Financial Information Systems/ Cyber Security Technologies/ Payment Technologies

• Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements related to technology / IT function
• Strong knowledge of banking activities and product, and mindset of risk control on regulatory report (accuracy, completeness, timeliness)
