Responsibilities

The ECM department is a core product of SG’s Investment Banking Division and is responsible for the origination and execution of all ECM transactions by SG Americas. This includes equity and equity-linked new issues, as well as equity private placements. The department is fully integrated into the global ECM platform, and works closely with counterparts in Europe and Asia.

The ECM Associate will play a central role in deal execution, client engagement, and market analysis, serving as a key contributor to both transaction delivery and origination efforts. The Associate acts as a point person on deal teams, supports client advisory initiatives, and provides real‑time market intelligence to senior bankers and clients.

Responsibilities:

  • Work on the origination and execution of ECM transactions (IPO, follow-on, convertibles, ATMs, share repurchases, and equity private placements) across all industry sectors
  • Manage projects in a client-facing role, including liaising with clients, lawyers, other banks, sales and trading professionals, and team members from across the bank
  • Responsible for organizing and analyzing sophisticated financial data used in client proposals and strategic plans
  • Prepare written recommendations, valuation materials and statistical exhibits for pitches and live deals
  • Conduct economic/financial research
  • Evaluate company’s financial performance compared to overall industry and market trends
  • Liaise with coverage and product groups in preparing materials for client meetings and other ad-hoc requests
  • Participate in the supervision and training of junior resources
     

Profile required

Technical Skills
•    Strong proficiency in financial analysis and interpretation of capital markets data
•    Advanced expertise in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
•    Hands on experience working with Bloomberg and market data platforms
•    Ability to translate complex financial information into clear, client ready materials

Core Competencies
•    Excellent presentation and communication skills, both written and oral
•    Strong attention to detail and quality control
•    Ability to work effectively within a collaborative team structure
•    Capacity to understand and analyze complex financial structures and securities

Experience Needed
•    Minimum of 2-3 years of prior relevant experience in investment banking, equity capital markets, equity private placements or a related financial services role
•    Prior exposure to ECM transactions or technology sector banking is strongly preferred
•    SIE, Series 79, and Series 63 is strongly preferred

COMPENSATION:
Base salary range does not include overtime pay, bonus and/or other benefits, where applicable. Actual base salary offer will vary based on skills and experience. The role is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus and includes a competitive benefits package including 401(k) plan with company match, medical/dental/vision, and other benefits for fertility, wellness, student loans and commuters.
