Responsibilities
We are currently recruiting a Trainee to join our Financing & Advisory (F&A) group in Hong Kong on a fixed term or part time basis for 24 months. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and growing team to obtain hands-on experience within a fast-paced, results focused, global organization that values diversity. The successful candidate will be involved in supporting the origination, structuring and execution of a broad range of structured finance and advisory transactions in the Asian markets and for our Asian clients' projects globally.
The team has an active deal flow and the successful candidate will be working in a leading global franchise on the execution of financings and debt advisories for our Asian clients with a focus on the Japanese market. Your main missions will be the following:
Transaction support to the relevant deal team leader on arranging and debt advisory mandates, including
- Financial modeling and analysis of financial projections
- Review of various documentation, including information memorandum and finance documents in English and Japanese.
- Review of various due diligence reports in English and Japanese.
- Assist in preparation of credit applications and other internal approval requests
- Research on companies, market and industry trends, with a key focus on Japan Client related support, including
- Prepare presentations and pitches for clients
- General research
- Respect and adhere to compliance practices and other internal requirements
- Assist in reporting tools
- Stay abreast of developments in SG's Financing & Advisory sectors as well as current transactions and opportunities in the market.
Candidates with outstanding performance may be considered for early conversion to permanent roles.
Profile required
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Law, Engineering, Mathematics or related discipline
- Experiences of working with or working in Japanese corporate, sponsors, financial institutions in the relevant Financing and Advisory sectors or projects owned by Japanese sponsors are a strong plus
- Good knowledge of accounting and finance, with familiarity with credit and related legal documentation
- Basic knowledge of credit and risk assessment principles
- Good presentation and communication skills, and ability to articulate findings concisely in writing
- Demonstrated capacity to work in a team-oriented environment, and contribute to collective success
- Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment and deliver under tight deadlines
- Strong sense of responsibility with a commitment to ethical conduct
- Fluency in English mandatory; business-level proficiency in Japanese is strongly preferred

The Financing and Advisory Group sits within the Global Banking & Advisory business line and covers 8 industry sectors: Energy, Mining & Industries (EMI), Infrastructure, Digital & Telecom (IDT), Sustainable Transportation & Solutions (STS), Development & Structured Export Finance (DSE), Real Estate Finance (REL), and Trade & Sustainable Commodities (TSC).Our industry sector teams are international teams with offices in Europe, Asia Pacific and the Americas. We offer a full range of finance (in particular, project finance and asset finance) and advisory services with a strong focus on delivering the best banking products for each industry sector. We provide services to a diverse group of clients including local and international corporates, the public sector, developers and investors. Based in Hong Kong, the candidate will need to work across sector teams and closely with other regional operation hubs include Singapore, Japan and other local teams as required. The candidate will also work with other areas of the bank such as client coverage, loan syndication, sustainable finance, debt capital markets, credit risk management and market risk management.
