Responsibilities

The Trainee role is a full time 24-month contract with Societe Generale where you will have access to a diverse range of training materials to help you succeed, covering various aspects of businesses, including but not limited to technical skills, leadership development, communication skills, client service and relationship management. To be eligible, please ensure you have completed your qualification and will be available to work full time for the duration of Trainee contract.

Responsibilities

In your 1st year, you will be exploring various products and activities across the region with details below

  • Product scope: Exotics Products on Equity, Rates, Credit, FX and Hybrid such as ELN, CLN, share accumulators, auto-callable and other exotics payoffs
  • Work closely with Front Office and the different support functions (MO, BO, Risk, Finance, ITEC) in order to:
    o Assist with trade capture / modelling of exotic products and deals in the in-house information systems
    o Push for automation, simplification and convergence of the processes
    o Assist FO on their specific requests with effective and innovative solutions
  • Control of the economic characteristics of transactions (primary bookings, secondary bookings, modifications and cancellations) based on contractual data and in particular:
    o Ensure the consistency and accuracy of transactional modeling with respect to term sheets
    o Perform regular stock review needed in case of specific Asia event or operational incidents
  • Control on non-contractual data according to RISQ framework
  • Follow-up of transversal issues (systems, financial, accounting ...)
  • Participate in projects for the security and reliability of the control system
  • Draft / update procedures linked to sensitive processes and controls

After gaining more knowledge from 1st year, you can also expect to explore more different area within the Exotics Cross Asset Middle Office and be able to come up with more comprehensive solutions & enhance existing processes with below examples:

  • Contribute to automation governance on Asia scope:
    o Identify regularly automation opportunity
    o In partnership with IT teams, engage in developments of control tools
  • Participate in impact analysis as part of the development of new activities, including participation in New Product Committee preparation
  • Participate in the production of risk indicators (KRI) or performance indicators (KPI) of the team's activity
  • Contribute to regular error rate governance on Asia scope. Analyze error rate concentration and help identifying root-cause and remediation action plan
  • React in a timely manner to incidents and develop action plan for the long term

Profile required

  • Relevant Bachelor’s or Graduate’s degree holder is preferred 
  • Graduates with some working experience gained from other sectors are also welcomed 
  • Good knowledge of capital market exotics products with cross asset underlying (Equity, Commodity, FX, Rates)
  • Fluent in English is essential, with other language skills would be a plus
  • Ability to communicate effectively and interface with various internal partners (Traders, Engineers, Sales, other Middle Offices, Product Control teams, Back Offices, IT) and in different countries in Asia, Europe, America regions
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-changing environment
  • Knowledge of Python is an advantage
  • Support change by proactively contributing to the change process and adapting to new constraints

Department Description

Within Société Générale Group, you will join GBTO (Global Banking Technology & Operations) in Hong-Kong, as middle officer on Investment scope. The role is transversal across asset classes, and our mission is to ensure all new trades and life cycle events are correctly reflected in the relevant information systems / database:

  • For Front Office (FO) to have a clear and accurate view of their positions and risks,
  • For Operations to ensure smooth settlement for all trades,
  • For Finance to compute economic and accounting PnL in due time.

As the first link in the Operations chain, Trade Support is also the first level of control for the business.
