Autonomous Senior Research Analyst – US mREITS & BDCs
Responsibilities
This is a unique opportunity to apply your intellect and analytical ability in a highly visible and lucrative position in the investment community. As a Senior Research Analyst covering the mortgage REITS and BDCs, you will strategically evaluate companies and make stock buy/sell recommendations.
The focus is on building relationships with buy-side analysts and portfolio managers in the U.S., through timely market information, short term (0-6 months) and long term (6 months-5 years) investment analyses. Portfolio managers include professional money managers within financial institutions, including mutual funds, pension funds, hedge funds and institutional asset management firms.
The purpose of the role is to provide research coverage for the Autonomous Research franchise of mortgage REITS and BDCs:
- Research production. Produce research reports detailing industry/company trends and communicating investment conclusions related to US mortgage REITs and BDCs.
- Financial modelling. Prepare financial models, included detailed estimates, for mortgage REITs and BDCs. Derive price targets and ratings for covered companies.
- Client service. Make proactive outreach to institutional investor clients, including meetings and phone/video calls to discuss investment conclusions. Assist institutional investor clients by responding to questions regarding covered companies.
Summary of responsibilities
- Conduct research on mREITs and BDCs, including meetings with subject companies and acquiring detailed understanding of industry and macroeconomic trends.
- Manage our yearly and quarterly earnings estimates for covered companies.
- Publish deep-dive company and industry reports on covered companies.
- Publish short-form research around earnings releases and company news flow.
- Respond to questions on covered companies from investor clients, involving in-person meetings and phone/video calls.
- Collaborate with broader Autonomous team, including working closely with Patrick Davitt (alternative asset managers analyst) and Jesse Rosenthal (US financials credit analyst).

Basic Qualifications
- Demonstrated history of proactive client outreach and excellent client service skills.
- Proven ability to build network of financial industry contacts.
- Strong communication skills, including presenting to investor clients and communicating research findings with clarity and impact.
- Experience preparing research reports for investor clients.
- Excel and financial modelling proficiency.
- Team player who successfully balances the interests of multiple parties.
- Excellent spoken and written English.
- Strong attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years working in the mREITS or BDC space.
- Prior experience in Equity Research.
