TRAINEE: Equity Settlement
Responsibilities
- Support end-to-end settlement processing for cash equity trades across hong kong and northbound stock connect markets.
- Monitor and manage trade matching, settlement instructions, and fails resolution.
- Manage and monitor the etf creation and redemption process under the participation dealer agent capacity.
- Investigate cash and stock reconciliation breaks, identify root cause, and drive resolution.
- Coordinate with brokers, custodians, clearing house and internal stakeholders to resolve settlement issues.
- Assist in daily funding monitoring and engage with treasury on funding requirement.
- Perform key control checks to mitigate operational, financial, and regulatory risks.
- Support payment processing and ensure adherence to internal controls and deadlines.
- Partner with front office, risk, finance, and it on issue resolution and process improvements.
- Contribute to process improvements, automation initiatives, and system enhancements.
Profile required
- Hold a relevant bachelors or masters degree.
- Operation experience in financial institution will be an advantage.
- Motivated self-starter, eager to learn and willing to work on a variety of assignments.
- Excellent attention to detail and the capacity to keep track of a large and varied workload.
- Demonstrate the capacity to work in a team environment on collective success.
- Think out of the box; propose new ideas and solutions on identified problems or existing processes.
- Excellent communication skills in both english and cantonese.

Department Description
The cash equity settlement team is part of the post-trade operations function supporting the global markets business in hong kong.
The team is responsible for ensuring the timely, accurate, and risk-controlled settlement of equity trades across hong kong and northbound stock connect markets. This includes managing trade matching, settlement instruction, funding coordination, and resolution of settlement issues such as fails and reconciliation breaks. Operating at the heart of the trade lifecycle, the team interacts daily with trading desks, counterparties, custodians, clearing houses (e.g. ccass), and internal stakeholders. The role requires close monitoring of market deadlines, proactive issue resolution, and strict adherence to control frameworks to mitigate operational and financial risks. The team also plays an active role in process improvement, system enhancements, and regulatory changes, ensuring readiness for evolving market infrastructures and increasing automation in post-trade operations.
