Responsibilities

Bernstein
•    Work closely with the Bernstein Global CEO and Bernstein Deputy CEO, along with other senior stakeholders, provide support in the management of key ACR processes and analytics, including but not limited to the determination and distribution of envelopes; benchmarking analysis and transversal reviews of compensation across business lines and countries; liaison with Paris C&B Team; Board/management committee sign-off at both a Bernstein UK and Global level; coordination with country Finance teams; and coordinating employee communications and payment (including international splits).
•    Assist in the development and delivery of presentations and communications to key stakeholders both during and outside the ACR.
•    Support in the preparation of Partnership Executive Committee (PEC) meetings where remuneration is discussed.
•    Provide support to Bernstein HR Business Partners globally both during and outside the ACR process.
•    As required, support coordination and provision of information to the central compensation team in Paris on global and local processes.
•    Support the Global Bernstein HR Team with the ongoing development, implementation and administration of compensation programmes and processes (e.g. salary grids and McLagan salary survey submissions).
•    Support in the management of deferred compensation, including administration of legacy SG and Alliance Bernstein deferral schemes, including the production of deferral schedule valuations for HRBPs and employees on an ad-hoc basis.
•    Value buy-out arrangements of unvested deferred compensation from prior employers for candidates globally.
•    Liaise with Payroll team to process deferred bonuses, buy-outs and cash bonuses (including payroll checking).
•    Support with the implementation of ‘one-off’ compensation arrangements as appropriate.
•    Work closely with the HR Systems team locally and globally to implement compensation information correctly and efficiently on HR Systems (including but not limited to PeopleSoft UK, Cosy).

Regulation 
•    Work with UK HR/Finance/Risk/Compliance teams and the Compensation & Benefits team in France to manage the day to day remuneration-related regulatory governance of SG’s UK entities in line with changes in regulation
•    Maintain the Material Risk Taker (MRT) list for SG’s UK entities based on regulatory criteria, working with internal departments and the business to ensure list is correct
•    Model the remuneration impact as a result of regulatory requirements and ensure information on this is available as part of the annual compensation review
•    Manage the governance and agenda of the SG UK Remuneration Committees (Remcos), working with the Compensation Manager, to ensure the smooth and effective running of the Committee and that they are provided with the highest quality input
•    Produce papers and supporting analytics for the SG UK entities’ Remcos
•    Work with the heads of HR for the SG subsidiary entities in the UK to ensure the Board, Remcos and Executive Committees of these entities are fully aligned with latest remuneration regulatory approaches
•    Prepare remuneration disclosures (Remuneration Policy, Remuneration Policy Statement, Pillar 3) for SG’s UK entities and assess any gaps in policies that might require process/policy change
•    Response to any requests from internal departments, internal audit and regulatory bodies with respect to remuneration topics
•    Support remuneration governance in other European entities (apart from France) to determine any improvement or gaps, working closely with the local HR

Profile required

• Computer literate with advanced Excel and Powerpoint skills

• Advanced numerical and analytical skills

• Ideally good knowledge of current financial regulatory rules in the compensation area, and their application

• Ability to work under pressure – professional and confident approach as the job holder will be working in a pressurised environment with multiple tasks likely to be ongoing at any given time

• Able to apply a sense of urgency when applicable to achieve deadlines and deliver on commitments

• Highly organised individual with ability to prioritise different tasks effectively and plan for deadlines. Has resilience to overcome challenges and set-backs

• Confident, good presentation with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate/convey complex topics in a clear/concise manner

• Adaptable and creative in their approach
• Able to understand and grasp complex scenarios quickly and place in the context of their overall role

• Naturally curious. Has an interest in understanding the context of their role in the wider department and makes efforts to achieve this

• A positive attitude and willingness to go beyond standard expectations when required

• Self-starter who is able to use their own initiative to proactively improve processes and raise issues that need addressing

• Meticulous in ensuring their work is accurate/to a high standard, attention to detail

• Teamwork – a team player who is prepared to contribute in all aspects of HR work. Demonstrates enthusiasm and a willing to expand knowledge in new areas whilst retain responsibility for more day-to-day analytical activities

• Personal integrity and ability to deal with and be trusted with sensitive information
