V.I.E. Compliance officer
Responsibilities
Société Générale Canada’s Compliance Department has a broad compliance mandate. This mandate encompasses AML, sanctions, surveillance, regulatory reporting, advisory, registrations, technical reviews, testing and monitoring, regulatory watch, project management, connectivity and more.
The main responsibilities for this role include:
- Perform compliance reviews on various processes such as personal transactions, outside business activities, conflicts of interest, regulatory registration, etc. The frequency of such reviews can be daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly or annually
- Contribute to the preparation of compliance routine reports
- Prepare monthly compliance metrics by sourcing data from key business partners
- Identify and implement opportunities to streamline metrics reporting. Assist other reporting needs
- Assist in process improvement and in the design and documentation of compliance monitoring and testing procedures
- Perform and/or review key control testing where appropriate
- Contribute to the digitization of the Compliance Department
- Participate in the drafting of Compliance policies
- Assist the team during on-site regulatory/audit examinations, investigations, enquiries, etc.
- Act as a back-up as needed
Participate in projects as needed.

PLEASE NOTE that since this program is primarily an international development program, candidates cannot apply to a VIE assignment in their own country of citizenship.

Studies & experience:
- Graduate with a Master degree from Business/Engineering School or University with a specialization in Finance
A previous experience in audit, compliance, banking and financial law services would be appreciated, with a preference for investment banking or broker-dealer background
Language skills:
Solid verbal and written English communication skills
Technical, operational & soft skills:
- Good communication and presentation skills
- Proficient/Good command of MS Office
- Reactive, detail-oriented
- Handle various ad-hoc requests
- Ability to prioritize
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Willingness & a strong desire to learn

The VIE assignment in a nutshell
This VIE in Montreal is to begin as soon as possible, but you need to plan 3 months between your application date and the beginning of your VIE assignment. It will last 24 months.
The VIE is a specific contract, under Business France’s eligibility criteria, opened to candidates under 28 and from the member states of the European Economic Space. For further information (including your financial indemnities), please see Mon VIE-VIA Business France.
