Responsibilities
ABOUT THE JOB:
The Enterprise Risk Management department in the RISQ Division oversees risk management for SG Americas operations. ERM Responsibilities include coordinating risk analysis reporting to various committees, establishing and monitoring risk appetite statements, enhancing risk identification and assessment frameworks, conducting stress testing exercises, overseeing strategic and environmental & social risk management, coordinating oversight of new products and activities, managing the Permanent Control framework, organizing risk management structures, overseeing Issue management, and contributing to the development of a Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) information system architecture.
WHAT WILL BE YOUR DAY-TO-DAY?
The risk professional sought for this position will be a member of the Permanent Control and Governance (“PCG”) team being part of the SG Americas Enterprise Risk Management department, reporting to the Head of Permanent Control and Governance who is based in New York.
Day to day responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Permanent Control Framework Governance:
- Oversee the design, maintenance, and evolution of the Permanent Control framework for SG Americas, ensuring alignment with Group standards and regulatory expectations.
- Act as a central point of expertise on permanent control methodologies, governance principles and best practices across the region.
- Ensure consistent implementation of Level 1 Controls (“L1C”) frameworks across Business and Support unites, accounting for regional and departmental specificities.
Control Framework Oversight and Continuous improvement:
- Oversee maintenance of L1C scope, activities and control ‘blueprints,’ including regular validation by BU/SU heads and maintain audit trail of validations for reporting.
- Monitor changes to activities and controls and provide reporting as necessary and as an input to the RCSA.
- Lead and contribute to ongoing change-the-bank initiatives, framework engagements and ongoing implementation of updated Group standards.
Governance Committees and Senior Management Reporting:
- Coordinate contributions and prepare reporting for governance bodies directly related to the Permanent Control Framework as well as other reporting that relies on output from these forums/underlying data.
Data, Reporting and GRC Tools:
- Act as a Product Owner for the selected GRC tools and referential by translating business needs into structured development requirements and test upon delivery to ensure intended results are deployed.
- Contribute to the development of ERM conceptual data models, including the product of dashboard, indicators and analytics reporting (leveraging PowerBi).
Stakeholder Engagement and Training:
- Provide guidance, training, and operational support to the operational managers and control relays on control identification, documentation and performance.
Drive awareness and communication initiatives on control performance and governance expectations.
Profile required
The Risk Management Department contributes to the sustainable growth of the Societe Generale group through its expertise, understanding of risks, and risk management techniques. The department’s mission is to independently analyze, assess, manage and monitor risk-taking activities with the objective of achieving, together with the first line-of-defense, the best possible outcome for the bank. The department oversees the enterprise, strategic, credit, market, liquidity, operational, model, and other risks of the corporate and investment banking business activities.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Must Have:
- 7+ years in the banking industry, preferably in a risk or compliance environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in risk management, finance or business administration or related field.
- Advanced knowledge of risk management governance, control, and project management skills.
- Ability to interact with business lines, management, and support functions and to provide effective challenge to members of business line and risk management functions across the organization.
- Ability to design and maintain dashboards, translate business needs into detailed BRDs (business requirement documents), and develop user stories to drive continuous improvement of GRC tools.
- Strong experience with Power BI for data visualization, dashboard creation, and business intelligence reporting.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, including data analysis, pivot tables, and complex formulas.
- Proven experience in delivering strong, well-structured presentations for senior leadership.
- Efficiency and ability to achieve results under tight deadlines and high pressure, strong problem-solving abilities.
- Understanding of key activities linked to a financial institution operating a large capital markets activity, inclusive of trading portfolios and lending activities in the Americas.
- Proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint for creating clear and impactful presentations to communicate insights effectively.
Experience managing regulatory remediation projects.
Nice to have:
- Proficiency in SQL for querying, data manipulation, and database management across various relational database systems.
- Master’s degree in related field and professional certifications such as Financial Risk Manager (FRM), Certified Analytics Professional (CAP), or Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate (PL-300) are a plus.
LANGUAGE:
Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing, is a requirement as the person in this position will need to collaborate regularly with colleagues and partners in the United States.
