The Trainee role is a full time 24-month contract with Societe Generale where you will have access to a diverse range of training materials to help you succeed, covering various aspects of businesses, including but not limited to technical skills, leadership development, communication skills, client service and relationship management. To be eligible, please ensure you have completed your qualification and will be available to work full time for the duration of Trainee contract.

Responsibilities

1st year:

  • Independently design and deliver high quality analytics, dashboards, and management materials using sourcing data from eSourcingHub, contract databases, Sourcing Engagement Form workflows, KYS, Power BI, and spend systems, translating data into clear insights that support management decision making and structured follow up.
  • Maintain and enhance Asia Sourcing data models and dashboards covering sourcing performance, KPI/KRI, contract compliance, and governance reporting, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and sustainability.
  • Provide structured analytical and coordination support to Sourcing Managers across RFx (source to contract) activities, including RFx preparation, supplier communication, evaluation consolidation, and contract follow up, in compliance with governance and documentation requirements.
  • Take ownership of defined analytical topics or sourcing support workstreams, proactively identifying risks, data gaps, and improvement areas, and driving structured follow up actions.
  • Deliver a data consolidation platform by leveraging JavaScript and internal SG dashboards to integrate sourcing information across supplier data, contracts, Sourcing Engagement Form workflows, and spend datasets, enabling users to access key information in a single interface and reducing the need to navigate multiple platforms. 
  • Actively explore and assess AI tools available within the Group, including Copilot, to identify practical use cases that improve sourcing efficiency, analytical quality, and operational consistency, and communicate findings through demonstrations or documentation.
  • Design and prototype sourcing custom AI agents using Copilot Studio, as well as basic automation workflows or user tools using Power Automate and Power Apps, to reduce manual effort and improve operational effectiveness.
  • Take ownership of self deployed AI, automation, or digital solutions, ensuring they are fit for purpose, appropriately documented, and aligned with team needs and governance expectations.

2nd year:

  • Lead or co lead assigned sourcing initiatives across selected categories, covering requirement clarification, market analysis, RFx execution, and award recommendation.
  • Manage sourcing projects of increasing complexity by coordinating stakeholders, leading supplier interactions, consolidating evaluations, and supporting negotiations.
  • Perform structured analysis of supplier proposals using financial and non financial criteria, applying sound commercial and risk judgement.
  • Support category cost improvement initiatives through pricing benchmarks, scenario analysis, negotiation preparation, and market intelligence.
  • Ensure sourcing activities comply with Group and Regional Sourcing policies, governance standards, ethical requirements, and documentation expectations, maintaining clear audit trails.
  • Produce clear management reporting on sourcing performance, project pipelines, Sourcing Engagement Form progress, and compliance indicators, using insights to drive follow up and escalation.
  • Collaborate closely with Group Sourcing and country stakeholders across Asia on regional initiatives, contract rollouts, and multi country sourcing activities.
  • Lead or materially contribute to AI enabled transformation initiatives by industrializing, enhancing, or scaling Copilot agents and Power Platform solutions developed in earlier phases, ensuring solution robustness, sustainability, and alignment with sourcing priorities and governance standards.
  • Apply independent judgement to translate sourcing and business needs into effective AI or automation solutions, and actively promote adoption through structured communication, documentation, knowledge sharing, and stakeholder engagement across the sourcing community.

The Sourcing Department covers all of the following procurement categories, plus transversal projects:

Real Estate:

  • Premises projects (Real Estate Agents, PM and Designer, Contractors, MEP, Furniture…)
  • Facility Management: soft services and maintenance

IT:

  • Telecom
  • Software
  • IT equipment
  • IT services providers and consulting

Non IT Services:

  • Marketing and communication
  • Professional services (training, legal, recruitment, temporary work)

Asia Sourcing team will be in charge of ensuring the respect of SG’s Sourcing processes and best practices as well as using SG’s sourcing tools (knowledge of Bravo’s eSourcing tool would be a plus). Asia Sourcing team will also contribute to the yearly savings targets, and will be in charge of maintaining a good relationship with the internal clients and business lines.
Asia Sourcing team will work closely with the stakeholders across SG entities in Asia Pacific Region including local Heads and COOs, will also have to work with the SG Group Sourcing Division members from the Head office in France.

Candidates with outstanding performance will be considered for early conversion to permanent roles.

Profile required

  • Relevant Bachelor’s or Graduate’s degree holder is preferred 
  • Graduates with some working experience gained from other sectors are also welcomed 
  • Hold a relevant Bachelors (Data Science, Computer Science, Info Technology related, etc.) or Masters degree 
  • Creative, open minded set, adaptable, comply with banking and sourcing policies, uphold strong governance with high integrity.
  • Effectiveness, team spirit and an ability to work in a fast-paced and demanding environment
  • Proficiency in MS Excel (including pivot table and formula like v-lookup) is a MUST
  • Proficiency in PowerBI Tools will be advantage
  • Proven experience in data analysis, visualization, and reporting
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data analysis.
  • Ability to prioritize and work within tight timeframes in a rapidly changing environment
  • Ability to build and cultivate good working relationships with Business Lines and Vendors
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, sense of service, and flexibility are essential
  • Fluent in written and spoken English and Chinese are a must, and French language skills is an advantage
