Relationship Manager Financial Institutions
Responsibilities
Société Générale is a universal banking group based on three main pillars; French Retail Banking, Global Banking and Investor Services (GBIS), and International Retail, Mobility and Leasing Services.
The Financial Institutions Group (FIG) is one of three global Coverage teams (with Corporate Coverage and Financial Sponsor Coverage being the other two) and sits within Global Banking and Advisory (GLBA). GLBA is alongside Global Markets and Global Transaction Banking part of GBIS.
The FIG Coverage team in Stockholm manages the bank’s business relationships with Financial Institutions across the Nordic region.
Société Générale has been present in the Nordics since 1982 and today our Nordic hub is located on Biblioteksgatan in Stockholm. The Stockholm office hosts approx. 30 professionals covering the region, active within Global Banking & Advisory and Global Markets. Our local activities are supported by sector, product, sales, trading and support teams based in Paris, London, Brussels, and Frankfurt.
FIG Coverage is responsible for Société Générale’s relationships with Financial Institutions. Historically the focus of the FIG Coverage role has primarily been private sector banks & insurance companies, but the mandate has now expanded to include fintech, asset managers and public sector clients.
FIG and Corporate Coverage work together in Stockholm as one team with dedicated local support. FIG coverage works closely with the local Global Markest sales team. Business line specialists working with Nordic FIG clients are based across hubs in Europe, the US, Hong Kong and Tokyo.
The Stockholm office also hosts professionals from SG Bernstein, Compliance, Human Resources, and Finance / Operations, offering a collaborative and cross‑business working environment.
We are looking for a seasoned individual with relevant experience from Financial Institutions Coverage, relevant business lines, or ideally with experience from both. The position is full-time and based in Stockholm. You will report to the Head of FIG currently based in London and locally to the Country Officer / Head of Global Banking & Advisory.
Tasks and responsibilities:
Manage the overall client relationships in order for SG to be seen as a long-term partner:
Build a network across C-suite, decision-makers, dealers and facilitators; strengthen client access for senior management and business lines
Understand client requirements, identify gaps in coverage, and work with salespeople to offer suitable solutions and services
Improve SG’s market share, promote cross-selling by all business lines, diversify revenue streams to support sustainable long-term business flow
Develop client business plans to establish opportunities/priorities for resource planning, overall attractiveness of clients and capital allocation
Manage scarce resources in accordance with SG Group policies while maximizing clients’ risk/reward
Be responsive to clients’ needs, represent the clients’ interests within SG
Assume responsibility for KYC, Credit and Risk processes
Maintain effective and seamless cooperation with key internal stakeholders, including Sales, Credit, Compliance, Legal, and Operations
Profile required
Studies & experience:
Graduate degree in a relevant field
Prior experience in any relevant business line: Capital Markets, Fixed Income, Equities, Asset Management, Transaction banking or Corporate Finance
Prior experience working with Financial Institutions, Asset Managers, Fintech or public sector clients
Language skills:
Mandatory: Fluent English (written and spoken)
Additional languages: Any Nordic language is an advantage but not a requirement
