We are looking for a senior Payroll, Compensation & HR Operations Lead who takes ownership of these activities for approximately 220 employees in Spain, ensuring operational excellence, regulatory compliance and a high quality employee experience.

This is a broad and visible role within an international and highly regulated banking environment, working closely with Finance, external providers and local and international stakeholders, while contributing to the transformation and continuous improvement of our HR processes.

Tasks and responsibilities:

You will act as the key point of expertise for Payroll, Compensation and HR Operations in Spain, with responsibility for:

  • Leading and coordinating the end-to-end monthly payroll process in partnership with our external payroll provider

  • Ensuring accurate and timely payroll delivery, including salary changes, bonuses, variable compensation, allowances and deductions

  • Managing payroll controls, reconciliations, audits and statutory reporting

  • Ensuring compliance with Spanish labor law, tax and Social Security requirements

  • Coordinating payroll accounting activities, provisions and closing processes with Finance

  • Managing compensation processes and employee benefits, including the flexible compensation plan

  • Administering pension schemes, life and disability insurance programs

  • Coordinating employee share plans and other equity-related programs

  • Producing workforce cost reporting and analysis

  • Managing relationships with external providers and ensuring high-quality service delivery

  • Identifying opportunities for automation and simplification, stronger controls and more efficient HR processes

  • Participating in HR transformation, digitalization and compensation implementation projects

Profile required

Studies & experience:

  • At least 8 to 10 years of experience in Payroll, Compensation & Benefits or closely related HR operations

  • Proven experience managing an end-to-end payroll process and working with an outsourced payroll provider

  • Experience in compensation, flexible benefits, pension and insurance programs

  • Experience in banking, financial services or another regulated multinational environment would be a strong advantage

Language skills:

  • Fluent in English and Spanish

Technical, operational & Soft skills:

  • Strong knowledge of Spanish payroll, labor legislation, taxation and Social Security requirements

  • A good understanding of payroll accounting, provisions, accruals and reconciliations

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and confidence working with data and reporting

  • Knowledge of the Spanish Banking Collective Agreement would be highly valued
